The Oakham Curry Club (OCC) is a well respected Institution with multiple international franchises.
The OCC takes pride in searching out the finest Indian Restaurants, and providing an impartial review of Curry Houses all over the world. More recently we started our 3rd franchise to find the best Indian restaurant in Shanghai.
Members vote anonymously on 5 categories - and an average score is given to each restaurant we review.
This OCC meet was made even more special by the fact that we had the HK Chairman over to celebrate the opening of our 3rd franchise. Due to it being a special occasion the OCC chose Masala Art due to its reputation as one of the best Indian restaurants in Shanghai.
Despite the high standards that the OCC strive for Masala Art delivered and gained a commendable score and move into top spot for the CHOTY.

The service was to a high level and the OCC liked the attentiveness to getting drinks and the level of efforts they made to provide the chillis for the legendary OCC fines. It was also noted how any slight errors were quickly fixed to cause no impact on our occasion.
The food quality was also excellent which included the full three courses being tried. Some comments from members included that the poppadoms were the best he has ever had whilst most agreed that the chicken dishes were cooked tenderly. However as always we need to look critically and the variance of spice level on some of the dishes was not of a high enough level. Regarding other aspects of Masala Art the value was what you would expect from a venue in Shanghai though the HK Chairman found its value to be incredible compared to HK prices. The atmosphere was good with the venue nicely full and some nice customer care was shown with the staff wanting pictures with the OCC for their website.
In summary Masala Art is and we would recommend it to others. However the quest for the best Indian restaurant in Shanghai goes on for the OCC.
