London's curry circuit is no stranger to excellence, but even among the city’s seasoned spice merchants, Paro managed to stand tall—and spicily proud—during the Oakham Curry Club’s recent visit.
From the moment we arrived, Paro delivered warmth in more ways than one. A lovely welcome, paired with a round of beers (never hurts), and the spicy scent of ambition wafting from the kitchen set the tone. With an average OCC score of 7.96, Paro officially joins the elite ranks of OCC Approved establishments.
The starters were met with near-unanimous approval. The tiger prawn starter got a shout-out from Chairman Sharpy, while Dennis was quick to appreciate the lamb. The poppadoms, of course, upheld the OCC’s ever-rigorous standards.
Smudge summed it up best:
“From the presentation of the Poppadoms to the Bang Bang Chicken, the food was of a significantly higher standard than many that came before it.”
The main dishes were the real showstoppers. The house curry (with just the right spice balance), an on-the-bone staff curry and Meat Thali were highlights—bold, flavourful, and generously portioned.
Eddie's verdict:
“Juicy all around. Good overall experience, a solid 8.”
Quick service, smiles all round, and a buzzing vibe made for an enjoyable experience. Even with a few voices calling the atmosphere “a bit loud,” the average atmosphere rating landed at a respectable 7.7, with many praising the energetic ambience.
Straight off the back of the Global meet (shout out to Smudge and Sharpy from the UK branch who made the trip over to Bangkok), it was a relief to be welcomed home with such a delightful offering from our home. With a value rating of 8.2 and quality rating of 8.1, it’s safe to say Paro brought the heat—and the heart.
